Holden suspends campaign due to illness of his mother
Congressman Tim Holden has stopped campaigning for re-election to Congress from the 17th Congressional District because of the grave illness of his 96 year-old mother.
Holden is keeping a vigil at her home in Saint Clair. Mrs. Holden is the widow of the late Joseph "Sox" Holden, a former major league catcher with the Chicago White Sox and a former Schuylkill County Commissioner.
Holden is opposed for his seat by State Senator David Argall. The election is Tuesday, Nov. 2.
