Work on Pleasant Row retaining wall continues in Tamaqua

Reconstruction of the retaining wall on North Railroad Street (Pleasant Row) continued in Tamaqua on Thursday.

Pleasant Row and one block of West Elm Street between Washington and North Railroad Streets will be closed to traffic Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. for excavation and replacement of the retaining wall.

These streets will be reopened at approximately 3:30 p.m. each day.

Drivers and pedestrians should avoid this area during construction.

This schedule may change depending on weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances.

Although these streets are closed, the Italian Bakery will continue to operate during the construction. On weekdays, Italian Bakery bread will be available across the street at Padora's Six Pack House, 209 North Railroad Street, starting at 11 a.m. On Saturdays, Pleasant Row will be open to traffic and customers will have access to the bakery.
