Three injured in Rush Twp. accident

Three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash in Hometown, Rush Township, on Saturday, Oct. 16. At 12:44 p.m. township police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Claremont Ave.(SR309) at Tide Road at the Walmart store entrance. A 2001 GMC truck was traveling north on Claremont Ave. when a 1997 Dodge attempted to turn from Claremont (southbound) onto Tide Rd. The Dodge was operated by Theresa Saylor, 53. The Dodge driver and a passenger, Travis Saylor, 23, were both airlifted to St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill. Travis Saylor was trapped and had to be cut from the vehicle by Tamaqua Rescue members. The GMC truck was operated by Melvin Lomax, 69, of Jim Thorpe. A passenger, Carol Lomaz, 72, also of Jim Thorpe, was transported to St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale. Charges are pending on Theresa Saylor, police said.
