Hundreds of children and residents attended the festive Tuscarora Fire Company's Annual Fire Safety Open House recently at their firehouse in Tuscarora.

In addition to food and music, other free activities were held including pumpkin painting, face painting, indoor activities, movies, as well as rides in a fire truck bucket, which was provided by the Coaldale Fire Company.

The Weiser Fire District volunteers also had Smokey Bear offer advice on the dangers of forest fires.

Children were also given the opportunity to learn how to put out a stove fire using a fire extinguisher. A number of fire trucks were also on display.

The Tuscarora Fire Company won at the Pennsylvania's Fireman's Association Convention held recently in Hanover Township. It received the 1st Place Pumper Trophy (2nd year in a row) and the 2nd Best Appearing KME in State Trophy.
