Due to the combined efforts of Carbon County, Lehighton Borough, and Advanced Green Solutions, the two-day electronics recycling event held on Sept. 28 and 29 was a success, collecting over 21,000 pounds in recyclable materials.

The items collected from Carbon County residents and businesses weighed 21,264 pounds. These items included computer monitors, printers, keyboards, CPU units, VCRs, radios, copiers, scanners, typewriters, CD and DVD players, telephones, and circuit boards.

All components were dismantled, reused and recycled in a safe environmental manner through Advanced Green Solutions.

Since the first collection event in 2005, Carbon County has recycled 203,465 pounds or 101.73 tons of electronic items.

In addition, Advanced Green Solutions has saved the county and its residents over $61,000 by accepting these items at no charge.
