Bach and Handel Chorale sets Christmas concert series

Bach and Handel Chorale of Jim Thorpe has announced Christmas Concerts to be held in five separate locations.

On Saturday, Dec. 4, at 3 p.m. the chorale sings the first concert of seasonal music at St. Mark's Episcopal Church 21 Race St., Jim Thorpe.Later that day at 7 p.m., the chorale will perform at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 1249 Trexlertown Road, Trexlertown.On Sunday, Dec. 5, at 4 p.m. the chorale travels to Tamaqua for a concert at St. John's United Church of Christ, 150 Pine St.The following weekend the chorale returns to Schuylkill County for two more concerts. On Saturday, Dec. 11, at 4 p.m., the chorale returns to St. John's Lutheran Church, 106 Main Street, Ringtown, and on Sunday, Dec. 12, at 3 p.m. to the Angela Triplex Theatre, 113 East Phillips St., Coaldale.Maestro Randall Douglas Perry, conductor of the chorale, will accompany the chorale on piano as well as conduct.The program will include "And the Glory of the Lord" from "Messiah" by Handel, "Jauchzet Frolocket" from the "Christmas Oratorio" BMV248 by Bach, and "Sheep May Safely Graze" also by Bach.Angela Mosley, soprano, will sing a solo of a 19th century hymn "Morning Star, O Cheering Sight" with the chorale.Leta Thompson, soprano, will sing solo for "O Holy Night" by Adolphe Adam.The chorale will also sing a series of carols dating from the 15th century to the present. The audience will have the opportunity to sing traditional Christmas carols.For more information, visit
