The engagement of Jeanine Burdick of Hometown, to Lance Edmonds, also of Hometown, has been announced by the couple's parents.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Patricia Burdick of Lansford. She is a 2000 graduate of Panther Valley High School. She is a certified nursing assistant and is employed at St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital in Coaldale.

The prospective bridegroom is the son of Archie and Janice Edmonds of Hometown. He is a 1989 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School and a 1994 graduate of Penn State University, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering. He is employed at Rubbermaid Commerical Products in Pottsville.

The couple became engaged in August while vacationing in Jamaica.

An Aug. 27, 2011 wedding is being planned.
