2 applicants for vacant Palmerton council seat

Published November 26. 2010 05:01PM

Moderate interest has been expressed to occupy a vacant seat on Palmerton Borough Council.

Only two candidates submitted their letters of intent to the borough to fill the slot as of Wednesday afternoon's deadline, said secretary Kim Rodrigues.

Council is in search of a replacement for former Councilwoman Sherri Malik, who resigned earlier this month after five years on council.

Whomever is chosen to replace Malik must fill the remainder of her term, which expires Dec. 31, 2011.

Council's next meeting is at 7 p.m. Dec. 2, at which time it could appoint a new council member.
