Rush Township supervisors sponsoring Toys for Tots box

At Rush Township Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday evening it was announced that the supervisors will be sponsoring a Toys for Tots box this year. Residents who wish to participate can drop off their donations at the Township Municipal Building during regular business hours.

The Rush Township Police Dept. report for October is as follows:

*District Justice fine money was $2,349.83

*Total miles on police vehicles for Oct. were 3680

*There were 403 calls, complaints, and incidents handled by police.

A motion was made to approve the report. The motion carried.

The American Water Services/Applied Water Management report for November 2010 included these operations:

*Performed weekly inspections of all pump stations- all working correctly

*Checked and cleaned 43 manholes

*Answered 9 line locations

*Answered 4 service requests

*Emergency generator was exercised weekly

*Replaced 3 grinder pumps at Lake Hauto

*Inspected a new hook-up on Great Oaks Drive

*Replaced manhole and new iron lid on Progress Rd.

*A motion was made to accept the report and motion carried.

The Road Report announced that paving on Old Hauto Road and Zellner Road has been finished. Both roads have been sealed and new shoulders were installed with modified stone. Patching and sealing was finished. The storm water inlets and pipe project was started. Inlets and pipes are being installed on Crest Street and Rogosky Street. Tree cutting project on Lake Drive was completed by Dunn's Tree Service. A total of 225 tons of salt was ordered and will be delivered November 17th. Anti-skid material was ordered (110-125 ton) and was delivered for the upcoming winter season. All calls received were answered.

A letter of appreciation was received from Ms. Joan Yacobenas on a job well done at Ye Old Hauto Road.

Under new Business all supervisors approved that Income tax monies for the calendar year 2011 are to be collected by Berkheimer. Plan No. 233A -Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. was approved.

Also garbage bids from Interstate Waste Services, JP Mascaro & Sons, and Tamaqua Transfer & Recycling were opened and the following information was presented.

Interstate Waste Services bids were for 1 year: Option a-$221,400 Option b-$221,400 Option c-$241,326 and Option d -$241,326 For 2 year: Option a-$441,000 Option b-$441,000 Option c-$480,690 and Option d- $480,690. For 3 year: Option a-$658,800 Option b-$658,800 Option c-$718,092 and Option d- $718,092. Bid bond was in order.

JP Mascaro & Sons bids for 1 year: Options a, b, c, and d were all at $348,000. For 2 year: Options a, b, c, and d were all at $696,000. For 3 year: Option a, b, c, and d were all at $1,044,000. Bid bond was in order.

Tamaqua Transfer & Recycling bids for 1 year: Option a only at $239, 500. 2 year: Option a only at $484,988. 3 year: Option a only at $736, 612. Bid bond was in order.

All bids were accepted for review by the supervisors.
