Blue Mountain to host health, information fair

Blue Mountain Health System will host a New Seasons Annual Health and Information Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the Lehighton Recreation Center at Eighth and Iron streets.

The fair will feature screenings, including for depression, body fat assessments, blood pressure checks, pulse oximetry checks, glucometer checks for diabetics (bring your own strips and glucometer to compare a test strip to the hospital's analyzer to make sure your values are correct), cholesterol checks, a brown bag medication check (bring your medications in a bag to have a pharmacists check them), pulmonary function tests and massages.

The day will also include giveaways and information. A variety of agencies and programs will participate, including the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office of Investigative Services, Second Harvest Food Bank, Carbon-Monroe-Pike Drug and Alcohol Commission, the Domestic Violence Service Center, the Victim's Resource Center, and the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Blue Mountain Health System programs will also participate, including New Seasons, Emergency Services, Home Health Care, Health Works, Black Lung Coalition, Nutritional Services, Acute Rehabilitation Center, Pharmacy, Hyperbaric and Wound Healing Center, Sleep Center, Cardio/Neuro/Respiratory services, Older Adult Behavioral Health Services and the Summit at Blue Mountain Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

The Carbon County Area Agency on Aging, the Carbon County Assistance Office, PA Securities Commission, and the PA Senior Corps/RSVP program will also participate.
