A Schuylkill County man was jailed on Sunday on charges of attempted homicide and related offenses after he allegedly threatened two persons with a rifle and fired a shot inside a residence.

State police at Frackville said the incident occurred about 2:20 p.m. at 148 Mount Olive Blvd., in West Mahanoy Township.

Troopers said George Petrylak III, 36, no address given, called the residence of William J. Pesavage, 43, and threatened to shoot him. Petrylak then arrived at Pesavage's home and entered it with a Marlin 30-30 lever action rifle, raised it and pointed it at Pesavage and Stacey M. Fonslick, 37, who was also at the residence.

Troopers said Petrylak then fired one shot. Pesavage and Fonslick were not hit by the shot and were not injured.

Petrylak was taken into custody at the scene by troopers about 2:50 p.m. He was arraigned before duty District Judge James Ferrier, of Orwigsburg, on charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, terroristic threats, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.

He was committed to the county prison in Pottsville in lieu of $200,000 straight cash bail.
