Tamaqua youth struck by vehicle

A 9-year old Tamaqua boy sustained a wrist injury after being struck by a car in the borough on Tuesday afternoon.

Mary Ann Rowlands of South Greenwood Street, Tamaqua, was traveling north on South Greenwood Street at 3:50 p.m., in a white Dodge Neon. When she attempted to make a right turn on red onto East Broad Street, the car struck the youth in the crosswalk. He was transported to St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale, treated for a wrist injury and released.

An investigation into the accident is continuing. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident can call police at 668-6100.
