Krause named Freedom Conference playoffs MVP

Last weekend, the DeSales University men's soccer team used the strength of three-first half goals to score 3-0 victory over Eastern University for the program's fourth Freedom Conference Championahip in the last six years.

Sophomore center-midfielder Steve Krause, of Northwestern Lehigh, collected the Freedom Conference playoffs Most Valuable Player honors.The 2008 TIMES NEWS Boys' Soccer Player of the Year has started in all 21 of DeSales games and has tallied seven goals, including two game-winners.DeSales tied the school-record for wins (15) in a season and are unbeaten in their last nine games.The Bulldogs will be headed to Swarthmore College tonight for the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament.DeSales University (15-4-2 overall) will be joined in the four-team regional by host and first-round opponent Swarthmore College (15-1-3 overall). The other first round game features the University of Rochester (10-2-5 overall) and Medaille College (15-4-2 overall). The two winners will meet on Sunday at 6 pm for the right to advance to the tournament's "Sweet 16".
