21 veterans at Mahoning Valley nursing center are recognized

Carbon-Mountaineers Marine Corps League Detachment 996 stopped by Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Veterans Day to recognize the 21 veterans who live there.
As part of the program, Nick Hawkey, member, explained the significance of the poppy as it relates to the veteran. He also showed poster size photographs of some of the significant memorials in Washington D.C., including the Washington Monument, Woman's Memorial at the Vietnam Wall, Vietnam Wall and Korea Veterans Memorial.
The program concluded with a salute by Hawkey and George Unangst, to each of the 21 veterans.
