Veterans honored at MapleShade

Hank Desrosiers, director of Carbon County Veterans Affairs, (center) chats with MapleShade Meadows Assisted Living Center residents Pauline Oriel, a WWII Army Nurse and Andrew Lapos who served in the Army in WWII. A Veterans Day progam was held inside the Bistro at the center for the veterans living there. Jim Thorpe Legion Post 304 sponsored the affair with four members present. Chaplain Gil Henry gave the invocation and benediction, while Angela Nardini sang patriotic songs. The special guest speaker was SSGT Chuck Franciso of the Lehighton Armory's National Guards. Army Nurse Oriel served as a nurse for General Patton's son-in-law.
