Lehighton Legion Auxiliary visits veterans

About 40 veterans from the Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Lehighton, and Summit at Blue Mountain Nursing Center, Lehighton, were visited and given a flag and boxes of tissues by Auxiliary members of the Lehighton American Legion Auxiliary Post 314. In top photo, Lehighton American Legion Auxiliary Chairman of V & R and Chaplain Gerry Klein, left, and President Gladys Balliet, give a flag and box of tissues to Navy veteran Halbert Getz from Jim Thorpe Pictured second from left is Beatrice Betz. In bottom photo Klein and Balliet greet Army veterans Clement "Clem" Reed, 87, from Slatington, and Anthony "Tony" Pango, also 87, from Palmerton, while visiting veterans at the Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Both veterans served from 1942 to 1946 during the Battle of the Bulge, and belong to the Lehigh Valley Chapter of the Battle of the Bulge. They both were also in General Patton's 3rd Army. Prior to their recent medical conditions, both veterans also volunteered their time to visit fellow veterans at local nursing homes.
