West End Relay For Life

West End Relay For Life teams and team captains will meet on Wednesday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Pleasant Valley High School cafeteria. The Team Challenge is to come wearing a Relay For Life T-shirt for 2001 through 2005.

Veterans Day at PVHS

Pleasant Valley High School will hold its annual Veterans Day program on Thursday, Nov. 11 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at the high school gym. There will be speeches from veterans and performances by students. Many of the country's armed forces organizations will have displays.

If you know a veteran or are a veteran and are a PV grad, they'd like to honor you that day.

Operation: Touch of Home

Operation: Touch of Home will be collecting its annual large essentials collection/shipment for the troops deployed overseas on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 13 and 14 at Kinsley's Shoprite in Brodheadsville. Volunteer assistance is needed.

Seniors meet

The Monroe County Seniors group that regularly meets at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville will gather at 9 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 10, and Friday, Nov. 12.

Park clean up

Bernie Kozen, executive director of the West End Park and Open Space Commission, shares that the Regional Park Clean Up will be held Saturday, Nov. 13. Participants should meet at the Chestnuthill Park at 8 a.m.

At noon, on Nov. 13, a free reptile show by K&L Creepy Creatures will be presented at the Chestnuthill Park, Route 715, Brodheadsville.

Pastor Appreciation

The family of Effort UMC will hold a Pastor Appreciation time between the two services on Sunday, Nov. 14, with the Rev. Robin being the guest of honor.

It will be held in the Fellowship Hall.

Fun Bunch activity

The Western Pocono Lioness Club's Fun Bunch will meet at noon, Monday, Nov. 15, at the Robinwood Community Building in McMichaels.

Participants are reminded to bring a lunch. Dessert will be provided by one of the Lioness.

After lunch the group will work on crafts for Breakfast with Santa, as prepared by Dee Merendini.

Women's Club

The GFWC Western Pocono Women's Club, a local service organization, invites West End women to the November membership meeting. The club meets on the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Effort United Methodist Church in Effort. New members are always welcomed.

Women of ELCA

The Women of the ELCA of Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville will meet at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 16.

They are currently involved in Operation Christmas Child, with donations being due by Nov. 14. Packing the boxes will follow.

Effort UMC has completed its collecting process.

The church is doing the boxes in cooperation with a Carbon County church and the packing will be done Sunday, Nov. 14, beginning at 6:30 p.m., at the Hickory Run Forest Development Clubhouse

Prayer Shawl Ministry

The next meeting of the Prayer Shawl Ministry at Effort UMC is set for 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 16.

The Western Pocono Lioness Club will meet at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 16, at the American Legion in Gilbert. The guest speaker will be Grace Marks of Brodheadsville.
