Armed robbery probed in Monroe

Pocono Mountain Regional police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at the Kmart store in Mt. Pocono.

Police said about 11:20 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 2, officers were called to the store to a report of a person robbed in the parking lot area. On arrival police found Blanche Howard, 57, of Pocono Lake, seated in her vehicle being attended to by security personnel.

Howard told officers that she had just gotten out of her vehicle when an unknown male came up behind her and stuck something in her back. The male demanded money and then shoved the victim to the ground and fled.

Howard was visibly shakened by the incident, police said.
