Golden Agers

The Panther Valley Golden Agers will meet on Monday, Nov. 8 with a guest therapist from St. Luke's Miners Hospital. If there is enough interest, bingo will be played. This will be the last time to sign-up for the Christmas party to be held at La Dolce Restaurant on Nov. 28, starting at 1 p.m.

At the Oct. 25 meeting Dolores Becker opened the meeting with the recitation of the "Pumpkin Prayer." Appropriate Halloween stories and jokes were read by Bernice Strepko and Marion Schaffer. The hall was decorated in a Halloween theme and the door prize, a fall flower arrangement, was won by Mary Ann Stotelmyer. The Sunshine report was given by Mimi Marrin.

Senior center

The Panther Valley Senior Center has announced its upcoming activities. On Nov. 4 Jean Zimmerman will give a talk on benefits. There will also be a checkup at 11 a.m. Nov. 5 is the Lancaster trip with the bus leaving CVS at 8:30 a.m. and Lansford at 8:45 p.m. The center will remain open.

Nov. 8 is horse racing at 11 a.m. Nov. 9 is line dancing in the morning. Nov. 10 benefits and a checkup at 9 a.m. Nov. 11 is Veterans Day and the center will be closed. Nov. 12 there will be a Veterans Day program at 11 a.m.

On Nov. 15 everyone will watch a DVD featuring comedian Charlie Prose. Nov. 16 is line dancing. Nov. 17 there will be a Thanksgiving program at 11 a.m. Nov. 18 there will be eye screenings at 11 a.m., and Nov. 19 is shopping at 9:30 a.m. but the center will be open.

PV Knee Hi

A meeting has been called for Panther Valley Knee-Hi for Tuesday, Nov. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Sports Zoo.


Conservation club

The Nesquehoning Conservation Club will hold its meeting at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 3 at MapleShade.

Meed's report

Meed's Methodist Church has announced the following events.

The free Thanksgiving dinner for Sunday, Nov. 21 will be accepting reservations for either the 3 p.m. or 5 p.m. seating. Call (570) 669-6142 or 669-9346.

Clothing store open every Wednesday from 5:30-7 p.m.

Free haircuts for al people of all ages Nov. 13 and Dec. 11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Christmas Cantata Dec. 12 at 11 a.m. Christmas party to follow morning worship.

Children's Day at McDonald's Dec. 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Free Happy Meal to children ages 2 to 18.

Free Community dinner Dec. 29 from 5-7 p.m. Spaghetti and meatballs will be served.

NFC auxiliary

The Ladies Auxiliary to the New Columbus Fire Company will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. with President Gerry McConnon in charge.


St. John's Church

At 7 p.m. each Wednesday, St. John's Lutheran Church, 1 E. Abbott St., Lansford, holds an informal worship: a spiritual, peaceful evening service with Holy Communion. All are welcome. For those who wish to come early, a simple supper is served at 6 p.m., followed by a brief adult and children's Bible study at 6:30 p.m. For more information, call the Rev. Lions Club

The Coaldale Lions will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 9 at 5:15 p.m. at The Viennese Villa in town. There will only be one meeting in November due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Coaldale Lions Dinner/Christmas Party will be held on Saturday, Dec. 4, starting with a cocktail hour at 5 p.m. in The Viennese Villa.
