S. Hill 'Stay-at-Home' festival this weekend

Published May 28. 2010 05:00PM

You don't have to use a lot of gas in your car for fun and fireworks this weekend.

The annual Summit Hill "Stay-at-Home" festival will be held Friday, Satuday, and Sunday, beginning at 6 p.m. daily, at the Ginder Field.

The festival is co-sponsored by the Summit Hill Recreation Commission and Diligence Fire Company.

There is live entertainment each night.

A highlight is the explosive fireworks display at the conclusion of the festival on Sunday.

The entertainment line-up is as follows:

• Tonight - Shades of Grey, 7-11 p.m.

• Saturday - Cameltoe, 7-11 p.m.

• Sunday - Becky & the Beasts, 7-11 p.m.

Another event in conjunction with the festival is the horseshoe tournament which begins at noon on Saturday.

Monica Marshall, president of the Recreation Commission, said admission to the festival is free. She said there are one-price ride specials from 6-10 p.m. tonight and tomorrow.

"This is always a big event in Summit Hill," she said. "It attracts a lot of people and raises money for two great causes - recreation and fire protection."

The midway is provided by Jim Thorpe Amusements. Rides include a small train for young children, a giant slide, and a ferris wheel.

There is also a beer garden, said Marshall.
