Pa. State Police promotes Brian S. Tobin to Lieutenant

State Police Commissioner Frank E. Pawlowski has promoted Brian S. Tobin of West Penn Township, Schuylkill County, to lieutenant and assigned him as commander of the Criminal Investigation Section at Troop M, Bethlehem.

Tobin, 44, most recently served as supervisor of the Criminal Investigation Section at Troop N, Hazleton.

A native of Philadelphia who grew up in Tamaqua, Tobin enlisted in the state police in 1988. Following his training at the State Police Academy in Hershey, he was assigned to Troop N, Fern Ridge.

As he progressed through the ranks, Tobin also served at stations at Bloomsburg and Swiftwater. He was promoted to corporal in 1999 and to sergeant in 2002.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, Tobin received an associate's degree in criminal justice administration from Lehigh Carbon Community College in 2004.

His wife, Christine, is a native of Summit Hill, Carbon County.
