An annual flag raising was held at the West Bowmans War Veterans Memorial at Marvin Gardens in West Bowmans, East Penn Township. The event was held by members from the East Penn Township Parks Commission (EPTPC). Taking part in the ceremony were, from left, EPTPC Vice President Hal Resh Sr. and President Bill Schwab. Last year, a large dedication service was held at the memorial, which was moved to this location, thanks to the efforts of Lehighton Area High School senior Hal Resh Jr. and other volunteers. For the move, the memorial was disassembled stone by stone. More than 1,000 were marked and put back together at the new location in West Bowmans. Resh Sr. said, "It was a community project that everyone helped accomplish."
