Parents charged in death of child

The parents of an 11-month-old girl who was brought deceased to the Palmerton Hospital in January, have been charged by state police.

Kimberly Ann and Jacob Adam Taschler, of 803 Edgemont Ave., Palmerton, were charged with involuntary manslaughter, endangering the welfare of children and recklessly endangering.

The two were scheduled to appear at the office of District Judge Joseph Homanko, of Weatherly, at 11 a.m. today to be arraigned on the criminal counts.

On Jan. 20, about 12:30 p.m., Kimberly Taschler walked into the Palmerton Hospital with her daughter, Kayla Marie Taschler, who was already deceased. Troopers said they were asked to respond to the scene by District Attorney Gary F. Dobias to investigate the death.

The Troop N Major Case Team took charge of the investigation. An autopsy was performed at the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

At the time, authorities said they were awaiting results of the autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
