The Carbon County Tourist Promotion Agency took steps to improve upon the appearance of the Col. Jacob Weiss Memorial Monument and plot in Bunker Hill Cemetery, Weissport. Richard Hoben, Lansford, president of the TPA, was in charge of the meeting. Hoben named Maor Albert U. Koch and A. E. Bayer, both of Lehighton, to meet with Merle Weiss, 73, a descendant of Col. Weiss. The county is also interested in a proposal to restore the famed Ben Franklin Well in Weissport.
