Postal Carriers Food Collection
Saturday's food collection by Palmerton area postal carriers totaled just over a ton of food for the CACPAC Pantry. The actual count was 2,016 pounds, plus one cash donation.
Demand for food at the monthly distributions is running substantially higher than previous years, and this will help assure that all those who need it are able to get it.
Food is distributed on the third Friday of each month, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the Community Services building, Franklin Avenue, lower level.
Eligibility is based on living within the Palmerton Area School District and having household income of less than 150 percent of the poverty level.
For more information, call (610) 826-1190 on a distribution day.
At 6 p.m., Monday, May 17, the Knitting Club will meet at the Palmerton Area Library. The club is free and open to anyone interested in needle crafts regardless of skill level.
Beginners are welcome.
