Lansford man gets prison time for drunk driving

Roland Martin Honsford, 29, of 30 1/2 E. Abbott St., Lansford, was sentenced by Judge D. Michael Stine Thursday in the Schuylkill County Court to serve five days to six months in the Schuylkill County Court on a driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol charge. He reports to prison on Friday, May 21, at 6 p.m. and was advised if he does not show up sober and clean of any illegal drug use he will not be paroled immediately after serving his minimum sentece.

Honsford pleaded guilty to the charge last March 2 and the sentence was deferred until now. Honsford was cited by Patrolman Scott Cramer, Rush Township police, on May 23, 2009, when stopped for a traffic check by the North Central Highway Safety Network on Mahanoy Avenue.

He also was ordered to pay a $300 fine and court costs, pay $100 to the Substance Abuse Education Fund and a $50 monthly supervision fee.
