Drums man cited by Tamaqua police

Published May 01. 2010 09:00AM

A Drums man has been cited by Tamaqua police after he made an illegal left turn on red on April 26.

Officers were on patrol when they observed a 2000 Saturn traveling north on Center Street. The car came to a halt for a red light at the Five Points intersection, then proceeded to make a left turn even though the light hadn't changed to green.

Officers stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Zane Brobst, 20, of Drums. Brobst failed field sobriety tests and was then transported to a Pottsville Hospital for blood tests. The tests determined he had a blood alcohol content of .11 percent.

Brobst will be charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and a red light violation.
