Diversity logo contest winner announced

There was a district wide K-12, "Design the School Logo Contest" by the Curriculum Committee of the Pleasant Valley School District Diversity Task Force.

Students were asked to draw a picture representing diversity in their schools and classrooms and "what diversity means to you."Out of more than 600 entries, Christopher Dela Cruz, 10, of Pleasant Valley Elementary School's Mrs. Pekurny's 4th grade won first place. He won a framed copy of his submission and a framed certificate of appreciation.Second place winner was Martha Kuras-York of Mrs. Constable's 3rd grade and third place was Rachel Gower of Mrs. DeCesare's 4th grade, each receiving a a framed certificate of appreciation.The mission of the Diversity Task Force is to promote equity and tolerance among all peoples and explore issues related to diversity in our school and community.
