Weekend egg hunts set in Panther Valley

Two community Easter egg hunts will be held in the Panther Valley this weekend.

Today at 1 p.m., an egg hunt will be held by the Improvement Committee of Lansford Alive on the Lansford swimming pool grounds. All children up to age 10 from Lansford borough may participate.

On Sunday at 2 p.m., an Easter egg hunt will be staged by the Summit Hill Recreation Commission at Ludlow Park and Bill Black Park.

In Lansford, the Easter bunny will arrive by fire truck courtesy of Lansford American Fire Company No. 1 at 1 p.m.

There will be separate hunting sections for toddlers with parents, age groups 3-6, and 7-10.

Renee Slakoper, of Lansford Alive, said over 2,000 eggs are stuffed with candy and toys. Children are asked to bring a basket for collecting the eggs.

In conjunction with the Easter Egg Hunt, Boyer's Food Markets of Lansford will be announcing the winners of their Easter Coloring Contest at the end of the event.

Refreshments will be on hand complements of the Lansford American Legion Post 123.

Monica Marshall, representing the Summit Hill Recreation Commission, said the egg hunt for toddlers will be in Bill Black Park while the egg hunt for older children to age 12 will be in Ludlow Park.
