PVSD plans to close playground at 4 p.m. because of vandalism

Published March 26. 2010 05:00PM

The Panther Valley School District will close its Panther Valley Elementary School campus and playground at 4 p.m. daily due to the recent incidents of vandalism.

Only the Board approved Youth Groups are permitted on the Panther Valley Elementary School campus after hours.

Any violators of trespassing between the hours of 4 p.m. and 8 a.m. daily or from Friday 4 p.m. to Monday at 8 a.m. will be subject to prosecution.

The school district will be repositioning cameras for surveillance and requesting the Nesquehoning Police Department to provide additional routine checks of the campus and adjoining properties.

The goal of the Panther Valley School District is to maintain its property without being subjected to vandalism which causes increased costs for repair of damages to the playground and buildings.

The Board of Education asks everyone within the community to assist in protecting your school.

If anyone sees someone on campus after hours or know of someone who vandalized this property, residents are asked to call Nesquehoning Police.

The situation will be reviewed in 30 days.
