Playoff picture taking shape

With three weeks remaining in the regular season, the playoff picture in the Eastern Schuylkill Recreation Commission winter basketball league is starting to take shape.

Service Electric and R.R. Frey Services control their own destiny, while four teams remain in contention for the final two playoff spots.

Two of those teams go to battle Wednesday night when Joe's Place/Joey B's and Two King's Pizzeria duke it out on the hardwoods of the Tamaqua Area Athletic Center at 7:45 p.m.

Joe's Place/Joey B's-Midas Hair Salon

Joe's Place/Joey B's remained in the playoff hunt with a 57-40 victory over Midas Touch Hair Salon.

Zach Tofany paced the Palmerton-based squad with 18 points, while Matt Minnich and Travis Fink tacked on 12 and 11 points respectively.

For Midas Touch Hair Salon, Mike Conely buried six three-pointers for a game-high 22 points.

University Legendz-Schaeffer's Harley Da.

University Legendz jumped out to 35-18 halftime lead, en route to a 54-48 victory over Schaeffer's Harley Davidson.

Mark Fowler (14 points) and Tom McCarroll (10 points) had big games for University Legendz.

Shawn Tray added 13 points and Kyle Foster netted 12 for Schaeffer's Harley Davidson.

Blazosky Funeral -

Cuz-N-Joe's Place

Cuz-N-Joe's Place kept its playoff hopes alive with a 75-62 victory over Matika's Lawn Care/Blazosky Funeral Home.

Jon Veet tallied 11 field goals for a game-high 29 points to lead Cuz-N-Joe's. Brandon DeCosmo also poured in 22 points in the win.

For Matika's Lawn Care, Jim Barron led the way with 17 points, while Danny Matika added 12.

R.R. Frey Services-

Two King's Pizzeria

Four players scored in double-figures to help R.R. Frey Services to a 60-51 victory over Two King's Pizzeria.

Joe Tamagini's 21-point effort led R.R. Frey, while Jeremy Frey and Tom Toth added 13 and 12 points respectively.

For Two King's, Damian Fritz scored 15 of his team-leading 17 points in the second half, while Jon Scheuer chipped in with 13.
