Schuylkill brothers facing drug counts

Two Schuylkill County brothers were jailed this week, charged with various drug related counts.

State police at Frackville said a vehicle stop was made about 3:40 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3, along SR61 in Butler Township, for a traffic violation. The driver was identied as Michael Angelo Cope, 31, and the passenger, Dennis Scott Cope, 33, both of Girardville. During the stop Dennis Cope provided false information concerning his identity. After confirming his real identity it was learned that he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of Northampton County.Michael Cope was found to have in his possession marijuana, cocaine and a large amount of U.S. currency. A search warrant was secured for the vehicle. Found was more marijuana, packaging supplies and a digital scale.Both were taken into custody and arraigned before duty District Judge Carol Pankakae, of Tremont, on multiple drug charges. Both were committed to the county jail in Pottsville in lieu of $35,000 cash bail each.Troopers were assisted at the scene by a K9 unit.
