Published June 24. 2010 05:00PM

A TIMES NEWS motor route carrier was injured this morning in a two-vehicle accident in front of The TIMES NEWS building at 594 Blakeslee Dlvd. Dr. West in Mahoning Township. Keith Smith of Tamaqua was facing east about 8 a.m. and making a left turn into the TIMES NEWS delivery entrance, when his pickup truck was struck in the rear by a van operated by an unidentified woman. Smith's vehicle was pushed several hundred feet into the front lawn of the TIMES NEWS building while the van traveled another several hundred feet and came to rest along the south berm of Rt. 443. The woman motorist's air bag deployed, but she didn't appear to be seriously injured. Smith complained of back pain and was taken by Lehighton Ambulance to a local hospital. Both vehicles were extensively damaged. State Police from the Lehighton barracks are investigating the accident.
