Five Marian students win state Junior Science Academy Awards

Sister Bernard Agnes, IHM, principal, at Marian Catholic High School, has announced that five students received awards during the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science State Competition held at Penn State (U. Park).

Robert Valente, chemistry instructor at Marian Catholic and Lorraine Piehota, retired Bishop Hafey science teacher, were sponsors.Valente and Christine LaMonica, Heights Terrace Junior High School served as chaperones.Special Awards - Theresa Patten, senior, daughter of Dr. Donald and Mary Patten-Behavioral Psychology, a 5 Year Perseverance Plaque, PA Science Talent Search Award and a 1st Place Presentation Award.1st Place Presentation - Christopher Ondish, junior, son of Andrew and Zelda Ondish, Behavioral Psychology; Stephen Valente, sophomore, son of Robert and Michele Valente, Chemistry; Jessica Horlacher, freshman, daughter of Genevieve Bubrowski and Scott Horlacher, Chemistry.Second Place Award - Victoria Vetter, sophomore, daughter of Harry and Dawn Vetter, Biology.
