Air Products holds Community Day

Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., in Hometown, recently celebrated its 21st annual community day event. The three-hour event is usually held in June and typically attracts about 300 local residents. There are many activities, including walking tours of the plant's wildlife sanctuary and ponds, face painting, crafts, raffles, and the always popular liquid nitrogen (LIN) demonstrations. Employees from Air Products help to coordinate most of the events, with a few other community volunteers from the Boy Scouts and the Carbon County Environmental Education Center pitching in, as well. Guests were also treated to an meal catered by Christy Joy Catering. Here, Air Products engineer Dan Terrell (left) helps a few volunteers (left to right) Ryan and Lauren Terrell, Alexa Staloski, and McKenna Renn, make LIN (liquid nitrogen) Cream. The frozen treat contains all of the same ingredients as ice cream, but is made quickly and on the spot by adding liquid nitrogen.
