Simple assault incidents reported

Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on two incidents of simple assault in which arrests were made.

Police said on Saturday, June 19, about 9:44 a.m officers were called to the L&D Tool Rental store parking lot to a report of two persons fighting. On arrival officers found John Tyler Howard, 43, of Pocono Lake, waiting in the lot and C. Rupert Davis IV, 30, of Albrightsville, waiting in the store.Police were told the two got into an argument. Police said Davis and Howard once worked together and had prior problems.Howard claimed the argument was verbal and turned physical when he was pushed into the back of a pickup truck by Davis. He then punched Davis in the face knocking him to the ground. Davis was found bleeding from the left eye and was checked by ambulance personnel.Witnesses told officers both men were verbally arguing.Police told both they will be charged with simple assault (mutual combat) and disorderly conduct.The second incident occurred on Sunday, June 20, about 1:19 a.m. Officers were dispatched to an address along Presidential Drive in Pocono Farms for a male who was assaulted. Through an investigation police learned that Trevon Godwin, 19, of Tobyhanna, was struck with a pipe wrench on his head. It was futher learned the assault occurred at 1108 Paupack Lane and Thomas Fields, 18, of Brooklyn, N.Y., had struck Godwin.Fields was charged with two counts of simple assault and one count each of reckless endangerment and harassment, police said.
