Our Lady of the Angels Academy conducted the Presidential Physical Fitness Program during the past school year. The program, designed by the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, recognizes outstanding physical achievement and exceptional dedication to the ideal of a sound mind in a strong body. The awards, all signed by President Obama, are given in three different categories. The first and highest level of achievement is the Presidential award which is the Government's top fitness award. Student must score at or above the 85th percentile of qualifying standards to receive this award. The next level is the National level of achievement. This is for those students who score between the 50th and 85th percentile based on a nationwide sample. The third level is the Participant award which is given to those students who have completed all the tests and also demonstrate a good sportsmanship and sincere concern for their physical fitness.
