Concert and more benefits Jim Thorpe Little League
VICTOR IZZO/SPECIAL TO THE TIMES NEWS A wide variety of classic cars was on display at McGarvey's Field in Jim Thorpe by the Jukebox Cruisers Car Club as part of a fundraising event to benefit the Jim Thorpe Little League this past Sunday.
McGarvey's Field on West 5th Street in Jim Thorpe was the site of a fundraising event this last weekend to benefit the Jim Thorpe Little League.
The event was the first ever "Open Air Concert and Pig Roast" in the afternoon and evening which was preceded earlier in the day by a car show.
The car show was put on by members of the Jukebox Cruisers Car Club from 2 to 5 p.m.
The popular local band of Becky and the Beast provided the musical entertainment for the Open Air Concert out on the McGarvey's Field ball field.
Along with the Pig Roast, the ball field's refreshment stand served up a variety of food and refreshments for those attending the fundraiser.
For the older crowd, there was a beer garden in a fenced in area under a tent protecting everyone there from the day's sporadic rain showers.
All proceeds from the fundraiser, which was sponsored by Day's Landscaping of Jim Thorpe, will go to benefit the Jim Thorpe Little League which this year has a record number of 350 kids of all ages participating in it.
