Two persons were injured Sunday afternoon when involved in a crash along SR309 in West Penn Township. Township police report a female from West Penn Township was traveling south when she attempted to make a left turn onto the parking lot of the E Z Market. In making the turn she pulled into the path of a northbound Infinity occupied by a couple from Hellertown, Northampton County. Upon impact the Infinity came to rest in the northbound lane while the car spun around, traveled north then crossed the three lanes, veered onto a private lot continuing into a field approximately 200 feet from the initial point of impact. The female motorist and the female from the Infinity were both treated at the scene by members of the Penn Mahoning and Northwestern ambulance and Lehighton paramedics. West Penn Township firefighters helped in the extrication of the victim. West Penn fire police maintained traffic control at the scene, reducing the three lanes of traffic down to one. Township police are investigating the incident.
