The operator of a tractor trailer was injured Tuesday evening after rolling his rig, loaded with 80,000 pounds of goods, along State Route 443 in East Brunswick township.

The crash occurred as the truck, heading west, had just descended a mountain and was making a curve in the roadway about a mile east of New Ringgold near the intersection with Hecla Road. The rig swerved to the right, rolling onto its right side then sliding into a bridge abutment.

The operator, who was from the Reading area, was treated at the scene by members of the Tamaqua ambulance and Pottsville paramedics and transported to an area hospital.

The Community Fire Co. of New Ringgold and West Penn Fire Co. #1 responded to the scene and West Penn and New Ringgold fire police maintained traffic control at the scene.

State police at Frackville are investigating the incident.
