How hot was it today? It was so hot that the highway liquified. It's not a joke. Patching material softened at the intersection of Routes 209 and 248 in Franklin Township, catching on the tires of vehicles and causing bumpy driving conditions. Further down the highway on Route 248, another strip of patch melted and expanded, causing a small upheaval in the road surface. PennDOT workers spread anti-skid material on the road surface and did other temporary repairs.
