Woman killed in Lehighton motorcycle crash

A one-vehicle, motorcycle crash in Lehighton last night has claimed the life of a 39-year-old woman.

Tanya Wentz, of Lehighton, died from multiple traumatic injuries, according to the Carbon County coroner.

Wentz was pronounced dead at the Jake Arner Memorial Airport, where she was transported by ambulance to an awaiting PennStar helicopter, said the coroner, Bruce Nalesnik.

Police in Lehighton said the accident happened at about 11 o'clock at the intersection of Sixth and Mahoning Street.

According to police, Wentz's motorcycle struck a pole.

Police said the accident is still being investigated and no other details were immediately available.

It was reported that Wentz was alone on the motorcycle.

The Lehighton Ambulance transported Wentz to the airport.
