PennDOT places limits on several bridges

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has placed weight limits on several bridges in Monroe and Schuylkill counties.

Monroe County

• Pocono Township 27-ton weight restriction or 32-tons for combinations on the PA 715 Bridge over Pocono Creek in Pocono Township. A recent inspection of the bridge showed deterioration to the box beams. Vehicles weighing over 27-tons or 32-tons for combination must seek an alternate route. The PA 715 is a noncomposite box beam built in 1956 and is 63 feet long and 37.75 feet wide. This area of PA 715 has an average daily traffic of 12,789 vehicles.

• Paradise Township 28-ton weight restriction or 33-tons for combinations on the PA 314 Bridge over Swiftwater Creek in Paradise Township, Monroe County. A recent inspection of the bridge showed deterioration to the box beams. Vehicles weighing over 28-tons or 33-tons for combinations must seek an alternate route. The PA 314 Bridge is a noncomposite concrete box beam bridge built in 1956 and is 57 feet long and 33.9 feet wide. This area of PA 314 has an average daily traffic of 512 vehicles.

• Tunkhannock Township 15-ton weight restriction on the Long Pond Road Bridge over Interstate 80 in Tunkhannock Township, Monroe County. A recent inspection of the bridge showed deterioration to the bridge pier caps. Vehicles weighing over 15-tons must seek an alternate route. A recent inspection of the bridge showed deterioration to the steel I-beams. Vehicles weighing over 17-tons or 32-tons for combinations must seek an alternate route. The PA 715 over McMichael Creek Bridge is a steel I-beam bridge built in 1939 and is 11 feet long and 27.7 feet wide. This area of PA 715 has an average daily traffic of 3,070 vehicles.

Schuylkill County

• North Union Township 26-ton weight restriction or 34-tons for combinations on the PA 339 Bridge over Catawissa Creek in North Union Township, Schuylkill County. A recent inspection of the bridge showed deterioration to the T-beams. Vehicles weighing over 34-tons must seek an alternate route. The PA 339 Bridge is a concrete T-beam bridge built in 1931 and is 88 feet long and 22 feet wide. This area of PA 339 has an average daily traffic of 219 vehicles.

• North Union Township 9-ton weight restriction on the Red Ridge Road Bridge over Tomhickon Creek in North Union Township, Schuylkill County. A recent inspection of the bridge showed deterioration to the steel I-beams. Vehicles weighing over 9-tons must seek an alternate route. The Red Ridge Road Bridge is a steel I-beam bridge built in 1937 and is 48 feet long and 21.9 feet wide. This area of Red Ridge Road has an average daily traffic of 337 vehicles.

• Butler Township 31-ton weight restriction on the Dutchtown Road over Big Run Creek in Butler Township, Schuylkill County. A recent inspection of the bridge showed deterioration to the steel I-beams. Vehicles weighing over 31-tons must seek an alternate route. The Dutchtown Bridge is a steel I-beam bridge built in 1954 and is 27 feet long and 24 feet wide. This area of Dutchtown Road has an average daily traffic of 227 vehicles.

• Upper Mahantango Township 22-ton weight restriction on the Ridge Road over Little Mahantango Creek in Upper Mahantango Township, Monroe County. A recent inspection of the bridge showed deterioration to the steel I-beams. Vehicles weighing over 22-tons must seek an alternate route. The Ridge Road Bridge is a steel I-beam bridge built in 1937 and is 66 feet long and 24.8 feet wide. This area of Ridge Road has an average daily traffic of 489 vehicles.
