'Day at the Lake' a successful event
Special to the TIMES NEWS Event coordinator Christina Tomsic with her mother, Ellen Kiss, a board member with the Blue Mountain Fish & Game Association of Walnutport.
On May 8 and May 11 the Blue Mountain Fish & Game Association of Walnutport held its 13th annual "Day At The Lake" charity event.
This event is held each year for children and adults from local organizations such as Dream Come True, Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit #21, and the Lehigh Valley Visually Impaired. The event gives each participant the opportunity to experience fishing with our organizations club officers and volunteers.
Each participant was given the chance to catch a total of three trout.
Trophies were awarded to Grace Herbik and Angel Oruz for catching the largest trout overall. Herbik's trout measured 17.5 inches and weighed 2 pounds, 7 ounces. Oruz' trout measured 15.5 inches and weighed 1 pound, 8 ounces.
Various games and activities such as face painting, balloon animals, ring toss, bean bags, and more were available for participants throughout the day. Music was also provided during the May 8 event by Nick Of Time Mobile DJ of Palmerton.
Breakfast and lunch were provided to everyone who attended.
Christina Tomsic, "Day At The Lake" event coordinator, expressed her gratitude to all of the events sponsors, volunteers, and participants for making this year's event such a success.
