Health occupations programs slated to begin at CCTI

The Adult Education Center of the Carbon Career & Technical Institute in Jim Thorpe has announced the schedule of upcoming programs offered in the healthcare field.

Individuals interested in hands-on care can enroll in State Approved Nurse Aide training.

A full-time day program is scheduled for August 16 - September 24. Theory and lab sessions will be held Monday thru Friday at the Health Annex in Jim Thorpe 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Students will perform clinical rotations in a local long-term care facility on scheduled days from 8a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Fall classes are also forming for a part-time evening/Saturday program. Call NOW for more information.

A two-part program is available for those interested in office/clerical positions in medical practices or hospitals.

The program may be taken as a whole or either component can be mastered separately.

Certified Medical Administrative Assistant will begin August 16th, Monday thru Friday 8:30 - 3:30 p.m. Students may continue with a Certified Billing and Coding Specialist Program beginning in mid-November. The CMAA and CBCS programs are accredited through the National Health Career Association (NHA) which makes the students more marketable in their field.

A 10-week medical terminology program will be offered to meet the needs of students beginning their study of the medical field.

This course also satisfies the prerequisite for Certified Billing and Coding Specialist. The program will be held weekly on Thursday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. starting on August 26th.
