Harmony Lodge No. 86, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Tamaqua, reached out to help those in need in the community. The teachings of the Order are to "visit the sick, relieve the distressed, bury the dead and educate the orphan." The family of the late Brenda Lee Fredericks, who passed away on Sept. 23, 2009, sponsored a Chinese auction to help pay for the high costs of her funeral. Hamony Lodge No.86 donated $50 from the lodge and raised over $70 from individual member donations to help them cover these charges. Pictured are, front row, lodge members Brian Turner, Justin Bailey and Robert Francis, Jr. Back row, Darrell Turner, Roy Turner, Lawrence Fredericks, Jr (Brenda's widower), Christopher L. Fredericks (Brenda's son), acting Noble Grand Kyle Smith, Lawrence Fredericks III (Brenda's son) and Tyler Arnold.
