The Lehighton Band, under the direction of Paul R. Smith, will be performing at 7 p.m. Saturday at Mauch Chunk Lake Park.

The band will present a concert of music of various styles.

The overture for the evening will be "Overture de Argentina," a very light-hearted composition that is easy to listen to.

At the other end of the spectrum, the band will play "Willy Nelson In Concert," a medley of Willy Nelson hits.

Also included will be Leroy Anderson's "Horse And Buggy," "Baby Elephant Walk," "Autumn Leaves" and a medley of patriotic tunes entitled "An American Tribute."

Two numbers that will certainly be recognized will be "Hollywood Milestones," a medley of tunes from famous movies, and "Rock Legends: Neil Diamond." This number contains several of Diamond's most famous hits.

As a special feature, the band will present a woodwind quintet playing "Latin Reeds."

Also on the program is a medley of two Pennsylvania Dutch tunes which will stir memories in any Dutchman's heart as well as a reflective piece built around the pictures of Norman Rockwell entitled "Rockwell Portrait."

No Lehighton Band concert would be complete without several snappy marches. In this concert the band will play "National Emblem," "Bandwagon March," "National Fencibles March", and from the great TV series, "Victory At Sea," the "Guadalcanal March."

This concert is free and open to the public and is being sponsored by the Carbon County Parks & Recreation Commission.

Be sure to bring your lawn chairs for a delightful evening at the Mauch Chunk Lake Park located in Jim Thorpe.

In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held on Sunday, August 1.
