Basics of Kayakying courses at Tuscarora State Park

Published July 29. 2010 05:00PM

Robin Tracey, Tuscarora State Park's Environmental Education Specialist, invites area residents to join him for a kayak training course.

Kayaks, paddles and life vests will be provded, though personal equipment may be used. Maximum weight capacity for the kayaks is 275 lbs.

The group will meet at the Old Lifeguard Shack located on the park's beach. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No one under 12 will be allowed to participate.

Because space is limited, advance registration is required by calling the park office at (570) 467-2506. Each course costs $15.00 per person ($5.00 if personal equipment is used), payable in cash to the park office or by check made payable to the Pa Parks and Forests Foundation. Refunds will be given only if the course is cancelled.

The course schedule is as follows:

Aug. 7 from 2 - 4 p.m. (payments due by July 30)

Aug. 8 from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. (payments due by July 30)

Aug. 15 from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. (payments due by Aug. 1)

Aug. 28 from 2 - 4 p.m. (payments due by Aug. 14)
