Carbon GOP elects officers

MaryEllen Salerno has been elected the new chairman of the Carbon County Republican party.

She succeeds Doyle Heffley, who is running for a seat in the state House of Representatives.

Other officers are Michael J. Sofranko, vice chairman; Sandra Dellicker, treasurer; Lee Becker, secretary, and Gilbert Gerhard, state committee.

Salerno said her priority will be to increase the county party's visibility and boost membership.

Salerno is a native of New York. She lived part-time in Carbon County since 1976 and full-time since 1988.

She and her husband Peter have three children and nine grandchildren.
