Two persons were injured, one seriously, in the crash involving a motorcycle and a van at the intersection of state routes 309 and 895 in West Penn Township. The crash occurred just before noon Sunday. Reports from the scene by West Penn Fire Chief Leroy Breiner, who witnessed the crash, stated a woman driving the van was eastbound on route 895 and had stopped at the stop sign at the intersection. Breiner said it appeared the woman was hesitant to pull out then pulled out into the path of the southbound motorcycle with a male driver and a female passenger. The bike impacted with the left side of the van, breaking out the rear side window. The male driver made his way across the roadway where he then collapsed on the curb. The female was treated at the scene by members of the Penn Mahoning ambulance and Lehighton paramedics then flown via PennStar helicopter to a Lehigh Valley area trauma center. The driver of the bike was also treated then transported by ambulance to a trauma center. The female driving the van was not injured. Responding was the West Penn Fire Company No. 1 and West Penn fire police who maintained traffic control at the scene. West Penn township police are investigating the incident.
